Mayor's Corner - July 2018
Fiscal New Year
On June 5, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-2019 Annual Budget and Capital Improvement Program. Commencing July 1, this budget provides a fiscally responsible financial plan that continues the delivery of first-rate services and is responsive to the needs of our residents and businesses.
As a part of the budget preparation process, the Council and I had the opportunity to review this past year’s accomplishments. I'm pleased to share that tremendous progress was made across all three overarching strategic goals. These goals include the responsible stewardship of public resources, having an open, engaged, and responsive government, and fostering a safe, sustainable, and healthy community.
Specifically, incredible focus and dedication was given to goal-related priorities, such as public safety efforts, the General Plan Update, economic development, transportation and public information initiatives. Our community can see the benefits of a few of these efforts through the Let’s Talk Public Safety program, the beautifully renovated Diamond Bar Ranch Shopping Center – home of Sprouts and Ross, and the newly redesigned City website. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the Council’s ambitious Strategic Plan and budget, visit the City website.
Let’s not forget the City’s annual 4th of July Blast is taking place Wednesday, July 4. Festivities will start at 5 p.m. at Diamond Bar High School, located at 21400 Pathfinder Road, and include live entertainment and a variety of food for sale, with the fireworks spectacular at 9 p.m. sharp! Admission is free, and continuous and complimentary shuttle service will be available beginning at 4 p.m. until the end of event. For more information, visit the City website or call 909.893.7070.
