City Council ReorganizationAfter officially declaring the results of the November 8, 2022 General Municipal Election at its regular December 6 meeting, Diamond Bar City Council held its annual reorganization.
At this reorganization, re-elected Council Members Steve Tye and Andrew Chou, and newly-elected Council Member Chia Yu Teng were sworn into office.

Youth Basketball - Spots Still OpenYouth Basketball teams are currently being formed, and there are still spots available. Registration is open for the following divisions: 4-5 year-old, 6-7 year-old, 8-9 year- old, 10-11 year- old, and 12-13 year- old. The program runs from January 21 through March 11, 2023. Flag Football Registration Now OpenYouth Evolution Flag Football is designed for girls and boys to learn and develop football fundamentals with an emphasis on fun and fair play. This program is highly recommended for kids who want a safer alternative to contact leagues. The program will emphasize practicing good sportsmanship, the importance of dedication and more importantly, having fun! Three age groups will be offered; ages 6-7, ages 8-9 and ages 9-11. The Diamond Bar Center is available for private rentals, including weddings, meetings, corporate events and more!Reservations may be made by Diamond Bar Residents up to 24 months in advance. Non-residents may book up to 20 months in advance.
Did you know?- You can have a Food Truck at your next event! Food must be catered by a licensed caterer with a valid county-issued health permit. Food trucks would require a county-issued mobile food facility permit and rental of the outdoor Motor Court to be allowed on site.
- You can have a horse and carriage on site! Approval is required with proof of insurance and a refundable cleaning deposit. The horse must be handled by a trained animal handler at all times to ensure everyone’s safety.

November 2022 Plan Check and Permit RevenuesThe City issued 176 building permits and received $150,640 in permit and plan check fees in November, an 84% increase over November 2021.

Diamond Bar Center Slope Stabilization ProjectThe contractor has completed 70% of the project scope of work as of December 6, 2022, per schedule. The completed items include, pouring 27 cast-in-place drilled piers with reinforced concreted caissons, buried concrete reinforced grade beams, concrete V-ditch and rough grading. The crew is currently working on the concrete flatwork, to be followed by landscaping improvements and final grading to be completed by next month. The contractor worked with DBC staff and the city’s consultant construction management team to minimize any potential impacts on the DBC’s events and customers. The project is ahead of schedule, initially planned to be completed by March 2023.

Grand Avenue and Golden Springs Drive Intersection Improvement Project UpdateConcrete footings and base have been completed for the west tunnel. The contractor is currently installing the wall structural reinforcement lining in anticipation of concrete pour next week. The west side tunnel is anticipated to be completed by the end of this month.

Southern California Edison Utility Pole ReplacementAn encroachment permit was issued to Henkels & McCoy Inc., subcontractor for Southern California Edison, for the removal and replacement of an SCE utility pole on Palomino Drive at S. Del Sol Ln. The pole replacement took place on Thursday, December 8 and was an all-day operation. No electrical service outages were scheduled for this work. Public Works staff has coordinated with the contractors to ensure that all nearby residents can safely access their properties. The photo depicts the contractors utilizing a crane to access the rear-yard utility pole for replacement.

|
Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP)Residents of the N. Del Sol Lane neighborhood began an NTMP after reporting speeding concerns to Public Works staff. Staff procured construction quotes and awarded a contract to CT&T Construction to install the improvements. On Thursday, December 8, construction began to install traffic safety improvements on N. Del Sol Lane and Highland Valley Road in accordance with the plan approved by the residents during the NTMP process. Improvements will include speed cushions, edgeline striping, centerline striping, pavement legends, and warning signs throughout the neighborhood. Construction is anticipated to be completed the week before Christmas.
