Frontier Communications Fiber-to-the-Home ProjectsAt the Tuesday, August 16 City Council meeting, Frontier Communications presented their fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband internet expansion project for Diamond Bar. There are several neighborhoods that already have Frontier’s fiber optic cable service via the former Verizon FiOS service. The upcoming FTTH projects are to provide new fiber optic cable service to residential neighborhoods that do not already have this option available. The City’s Public Works Department is actively coordinating with Frontier to phase the construction schedule to minimize impacts to residents. The photo depicts an archived picture of Frontier’s contractors actively boring underneath the sidewalk in a residential neighborhood to install new fiber optic cable service.

City's Hazard Mitigation Plan Receives FEMA ApprovalThe 2022 Diamond Bar Local Hazard Mitigation Plan was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) August 2022. Funded through a grant by FEMA, the City’s Plan identifies potential hazards and their risks, and actions the City will take to mitigate or reduce the potential impact of the hazards. Plan development started in early 2020 and included resident and community organization feedback, participation from our Public Safety partners in the Los Angeles County Sheriff and Fire Departments, as well as local school district and utility company personnel. The Diamond Bar City Council adopted the 2022 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan at its July 19, 2022 City Council meeting, with a copy of the Plan available on the City website. The Plan is valid for five years through August 2027 and will go through an annual administrative review.
