In-Person District Mapping Workshop this SaturdayResidents interested in learning about the City's transition from at-large to district-based elections are encouraged to attend a community workshop taking place at 10 a.m. this Saturday, April 9 at the Heritage Park Community Center, 1600 S. Brea Canyon Road.
This workshop will open with a brief presentation on why and how the transition is happening followed by an overview of the legal requirements and population data that apply to the formation of the new voting districts. There will be time for questions and answers, and staff and consultants will be available to help interested attendees create and submit proposed maps for the City Council to consider.

Propose a Map - Draw your OwnHave ideas on how the lines should be drawn for Diamond Bar's new voting districts? Share them with the City Council by submitting a proposed map.
Both printable maps and an online mapping tool are available for your use at www.diamondbarca.gov/districting. Your proposed map may delineate boundaries for a single district in one part of town or for all five districts citywide.

Attend the Next Public Hearing The next City Council meeting of April 19 will include a public hearing regarding the proposed transition to district-based elections.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and you may participate either
- in person by visiting City Hall, located at 21810 Copley Drive, or
- remotely (online or by phone) using the link or phone number and access code that will be published on the agenda the Friday before the meeting at www.diamondbarca.gov/agendas.
During the public hearing, council members will take public comment before considering a first reading of an ordinance to transition to district elections and potentially selecting and adopting a district map and district election sequencing.

Contactless Paper Shredding Events Safely and securely dispose of confidential or sensitive documents at one of several drive-through paper shredding events the City is hosting April-August.
All events will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in the South Coast Air Quality Management District parking lot located at 21865 Copley Drive on the following dates: April 16, May 28, June 25, July 23, and August 27.
Advance registration is not required. However, there is a limit of two banker boxes (or one 13-gallon trash bag) per household to ensure everyone who attends is able to be served.
Documents for shredding must not be in binders or sheet protectors, or fastened with rubber bands or binder clips. Staples and paperclips are OK. Also, documents should be placed in the trunk or rear of the vehicle.
When arriving on site, remain in the vehicle and follow staff directions to proceed to the designated paper shredding location where the documents will be retrieved and shredded while you wait.

Brea Canyon Business Park Development To Go Before the Planning Commission April 12 The Planning Commission will review the following proposed revisions to the hotel-anchored Brea Canyon Business Park development at 850 Brea Canyon Road:
- Replace the single-story, 8,900 square-foot medical office building and associated with a single-story 6,500 square-foot commercial building to accommodate a drive-through restaurant and up to two future retail or fast-food restaurant tenants.
- Increase the hotel room count from 109 to 124 (a proposed increase of 15 rooms).
- Provide a southbound left-turn pocket on Brea Canyon Road to accommodate a left turn in access to the property
- Retain and refurbish the existing, 65-foot high pylon sign located alongside the offramp.

March 2022 Plan Check and Permit Revenues The City issued 211 building permits and received $145,965 in permit and plan check fees in March, the second highest March revenue number since 2017 (when South Pointe was still under construction). Third-quarter plan check and permit revenues have placed the Building and Safety Division solidly on track to meet the current fiscal year revenue target.

Grand Avenue/Golden Springs Drive Intersection Improvement ProjectSlope and new road lane grading operations are currently underway on the southeast quadrant of the intersection. All retaining walls in front of the Golf Course parking lot have been completed, along with the new concrete curb and gutter and pavers. All electrical, streetscape, concrete flatwork, pre-cast architectural features, and architectural lighting will continue for the next couple of months on the Golf Course sides of the intersection. Staff will continue to work closely with the contractor to minimize delays at this intersection and keep the Sheriff's Department, Fire Station #120, and the public informed of potential delays.

Sidewalk Improvements on Diamond Bar BoulevardThe City’s contractor, Hardy & Harper, completed the pouring of all sidewalks on Diamond Bar Boulevard adjacent to El Pollo Loco restaurant. H&H’s crews remained on site removing forms and performing cleanup. Paving for gutter slots and driveways was also completed.

Street Rehabilitation Project Planned for MayThe Project will improve approximately 19 centerline miles of residential and collector streets with slurry seal, chip seal, localized asphalt concrete (AC) dig-outs, and curb ramp improvements in Area 1.
The Project will also rehabilitate Golden Springs Drive from Brea Canyon Road to Lemon Avenue with AC grind and overlay, enhanced bike lanes, signing and striping, and ADA curb ramp improvements. Staff has completed the design and City Council has approved the design and plans at its April 5 meeting. Staff is in the process of procuring construction bids to begin the project in May after local schools begin summer break in order to avoid traffic impacts on parents and students during regular school hours.
Public notifications will be sent out to all affected residents and businesses well in advance of the construction start date.

Frontier's Fiber-to-the-Home Improvement Project UnderwayPublic Works issued an encroachment permit to Frontier Communications for the installation of new fiber optic cable on Fallow Field Drive, from Brea Canyon Cut-off Road to Silver Cloud Drive.
This project is part of an overall plan by Frontier to install new residential fiber optic services throughout the community this year.
Construction activity started April 4 and is anticipated to be completed by the week of May 16, with the final asphalt restorations will be scheduled for a later date.

MCI Metro Improvement Project on Golden Springs DrivePublic Works issued an encroachment permit to HP Communications, subcontractor for MCI Metro Access Transmission Services (Verizon), for the installation of new fiber optic cable on Golden Springs Drive, between Brea Canyon Road and Adel Avenue.
All construction activity on Golden Springs Drive is now complete, and asphalt restorations will be scheduled for a later date.
A second phase of this project, on Brea Canyon Road from Golden Springs Drive to Glenbrook Drive, is anticipated to start in the coming weeks.

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo on Thursday, May 5 with friends, great music of all genres, delicious Mexican food, and everyone’s favorite – raffle prizes!
