SCE Utility Pole ReplacementPublic Works issued an encroachment permit to Henkels & McCoy Inc., subcontractor for Southern California Edison, for the removal and replacement of an SCE utility pole on Hidden Pines Drive at Sunbright Drive. The pole replacement took place on Wednesday, March 23 and was an all-day operation. Photo depicts the contractors actively replacing the pole on Hidden Pines Drive, accessing the pole via Brea Canyon Road.

MCI Metro Improvement ProjectPublic Works issued an encroachment permit to HP Communications, subcontractor for MCI Metro Access Transmission Services (Verizon), for the installation of new fiber optic cable on Golden Springs Drive, between Brea Canyon Road and Adel Avenue. Construction activity started on Monday, March 21 and is anticipated to be completed by the week of April 4 and the final asphalt restoration will be scheduled for a later date. The photo depicts the contractors actively boring along Golden Springs Drive for the placement of new conduit underneath the roadway.

Citywide Asphalt and Concrete Repair ProjectOn March 24, the Public Works Department’s contractors started to repair asphalt and concrete in various locations throughout the city. As part of this project, damaged sections of streets and sidewalks, within the scope of this project, will be removed and restored to a new condition. All work is expected to be completed by the week of April 24 or earlier. Notice will be provided to residents in neighborhoods affected by the construction activity. Residents are encouraged to report hazards directly to the City’s Public Works Department by calling (909) 839-7040, via the Diamond Bar Connected mobile app, or online at www.diamondbarca.gov/report.

Emergency Water Leak RepairAn emergency repair was performed by Doty Bros. Construction Company, subcontractor for the Walnut Valley Water District, for a leaking water main on Evergreen Springs Drive at Viento Verano Drive. Construction activity was completed by Wednesday, March 23 and the final asphalt restoration will be scheduled for a later date.

Ready, Set, Hunt for Windmills!April marks 33 years of cityhood for Diamond Bar, and the City is celebrating with a month-long scavenger hunt for the entire family to enjoy! The hunt for “windmill signs” will occur at various city parks, trails and facilities.
Visit the City website special event page on April 1 to download the hunting location map and participation instructions. For questions, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (909) 839-7070. Registration Information - Hunt is open to Diamond Bar residents of all ages

New Golfing ClassesGolf with Sportball classes introduce students to golf fundamentals, focusing on proper stance, grip, and ball position, as well as game vocabulary, etiquette and rules. The eight-week course starts April 5 and takes place at Ronald Reagan Park. Classes for ages 3-4 years are held at 3-3:45 p.m. and 4-4:45 p.m. for ages 5-7 years. Multi-Family Organics RecyclingAs part of its multi-family organics recycling program, Valley Vista is now distributing organics recycling starter kits consisting of a two-gallon kitchen counter caddy with 30 liner bags. Starting May 1, residents living in condominiums or apartments can use this caddy to collect their food waste until they empty it into their shared green bin. For questions, contact Valley Vista at (800) 442-6454. A limited amount of starter kits are also available for pick up at City Hall located at 21810 Copley Drive.
