HHW and Electronic Waste Collection Event TotalsOver 1,100 local households participated in this past weekend’s Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste collection event. The great turn out resulted in over 3,500 gallons of hazardous waste and over 30,000 pounds of electronic waste collected… all these items will be recycled properly, saving energy, reducing pollution and conserving natural resources. See table below for a few of the totals: - Motor Oil 323 gallons
- Antifreeze 162 gallons
- Paint 1,018 gallons
- Batteries 2,700 pounds
- Oil Filters 120 pounds
- Sharps 433 pounds
- Pharmaceutical 441 pounds
- Car Batteries 30 units
- Misc. E-Waste 32,359 pounds

Planning Commission Meeting At its March 8 meeting, the Planning Commission reorganized with Commissioner Ray Wolfe selected to serve as Chair, and Commissioner Kenneth Mok selected to serve as Vice-Chair for the next year.

Grand Avenue & Golden Springs Drive Intersection Improvement Project Southern California Edison and the project’s contractor relocated the traffic signal meter pedestal, which supplies power to the signalized intersection, from its previous location within the middle of the sidewalk to the rear easement area behind sidewalk. Furthermore, the contractor has also installed the custom cast iron tree grates, poured the new colored-concrete flatwork, and gutter along the retaining wall frontage inside the golf course parking lot. Charter/Spectrum Maintenance Project on S Rock River Road Public Works issued an encroachment permit to L&G Cable Construction, subcontractor for Charter Communications, for the replacement of conduit and cable service underneath the roadway on S. Rock River Road, between Eagle Nest Drive and S. Palo Cedro Drive. Construction activity started on Wednesday, March 9 and is anticipated for final asphalt restorations by the week of March 14 or earlier. The photo depicts the contractors actively excavating within the asphalt to access the existing conduit and cable service for replacement.

SCE Utility Pole Replacement on Brea Canyon Road at Colds Spring Lane An encroachment permit was issued to Henkels & McCoy Inc., subcontractor for Southern California Edison, for the removal and replacement of an SCE utility pole on Brea Canyon Road at Cold Spring Lane. The pole replacement took place on Monday, March 7 and was an all-day operation. The photo depicts the contractors actively replacing the pole on Brea Canyon Road at Cold Spring Lane.

SCE Emergency Service Outage on Cliffbranch Drive An emergency repair was performed by Southern California Edison for an electrical service outage on Cliffbranch Drive, between Morning Canyon Road and Leaning Pine Road. All construction activity was completed by Thursday, March 10 and final concrete restorations are anticipated for completion by the week of March 21 or earlier. The photo depicts the excavations within the sidewalk to access the failed electrical service where contractors are actively making repairs.

Senior Programs Resume In-Person The Diamond Bar Center officially resumed in-person Senior Club programs on Saturday, March 5 with a new Senior Club, Federation of Hindus Association, hosting their first meeting in the Pine Room and Sunshine Seniors resumed Yoga on Sunday morning. The Diamond Bar Senior Club had their return of Bingo on Monday with nearly 150 in attendance. Evergreen Seniors continued their classes throughout the week with English, knitting, three different dance classes, karaoke, home gardening, Chinese opera and more! Heritage Park also resumed in-person programs starting Tuesday, March 6 with the return of Super Diamond Age and Diamond Age clubs. All of the Senior clubs’ members were elated to be back inside, enjoying socializing, learning and playing games!

City’s COVID-19 Protocol Update - City Facilities Available for Walk-In Services Due to the recent changes to the Los Angeles County Department of Health guidelines, visitors to any City facility will no longer be required to wear a face mask.
Both City Hall and the Diamond Bar Center are open to provide walk-in services during regular operating hours, those with appointments will be given priority. Book your appointment at www.diamondbarca.gov/appointment.
As of March 1, all City Council and Commission meetings have resumed meeting in person. Participation information is available on the first page of every meeting agenda at www.diamondbarca.gov/agendas.
