City’s COVID-19 Temporary Service Adjustments Implemented Until Further NoticeIn light of the recent significant surge in COVID-19 cases, the City is implementing the following temporary adjustments to its operations and facility access to mitigate the spread of this highly contagious virus.
Both City Hall and the Diamond Bar Center will remain open for business, and City staff will continue to be available by phone, email, and/or video conferencing during regular operating hours.
Limited Facility Access for In-person Services - Diamond Bar City Hall – In-person services will be available only between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday, and appointments will be required.
- Diamond Bar Center – Access into the facility will be limited to only those who have an appointment, are registered for a recreation class or activity, or are renting the facility for a private event.
Most City services are available by phone or video conferencing. These services include business licenses, construction permits, picnic rentals and facility tours. To learn more and book your next appointment, visit www.diamondbarca.gov/appointment.

City Commission Openings Application Deadline NearingApplications are currently being accepted to fill 15 seats on the City’s three commissions – Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Traffic and Transportation.
Commissions act in an advisory capacity to the City Council. The Planning Commission advises on planning and land use matters, the Parks and Recreation Commission advises on matters pertaining to recreational facilities and programming, and the Traffic and Transportation Commission advises on traffic flow and transportation system matters.
Diamond Bar residents who are at least 18 years of age, registered to vote, and interested in being considered for one of these commissions are encouraged to apply. Appointments will be made by the City Council, and commissioners will begin their two-year terms in March.
To be considered for appointment, individuals must apply online no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 28 by visiting www.diamondbarca.gov/jobs.

Healthy DB is Back!Healthy DB is highlighting Pantera Park this February. The park sits on 5.5-acres of land and has a lot to offer. Whether it is for kids, adults, and your furry little friends, information, amenities, activities, and workout ideas will be emailed to those registered and will be posted on the City of Diamond Bar's social media pages. Parent and Child Music Recreation Classes Start Next WeekThere is still time to enroll! Start dates for Music Together have been pushed back to January 25. In this class you will explore ways to make music with your baby, giving them the music-making model they will need in order to become music makers! Class fees are $195 for residents and $200 for non-residents. Classes for children with special needs are also available. $50 material fee is due to instructor at the first class for song book, CD, downloadable songs and child growth chart. Senior Programs – Older Adults Enrichment & Fitness Classes Classes are led by Mt. San Antonio College instructors and are conducted at the Diamond Bar Center, 1600 Grand Avenue or Heritage Park Community Center, 2900 S. Brea Canyon Rd. Classes are currently on hiatus as City facilities remain closed. Spring Classes are scheduled to resume February 21. Please note: Mt. SAC conducts its own class registration. Online pre-registration takes place from January 21 through January 28 https://tinyurl.com/regsp22 or participants may register in-person at the first class meeting.

Pantera Park Basketball Courts Temporarily UnavailableStarting on Saturday, January 29, the basketball courts located at Pantera Park will be utilized to conduct the City’s youth basketball program and will be temporarily unavailable for general public use during class. The courts will be unavailable every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through March 12. To locate recreation amenities, visit https://www.diamondbarca.gov/facilities

Home Improvement ProgramOn January 13, 2022, the City approved two Home Improvement Program (HIP) loans, each in the amount of $20,000. The loans will be used to replace aging and failing pipes, and to repair a leaking roof and associated interior water damage. The HIP offers deferred loans to eligible low- and moderate-income homeowners of single-family detached housing for necessary home improvements, as well as repairs to mitigate building and safety code deficiencies and/or violations. The City’s HIP policies provide interest-free, deferred loans of up to $20,000 to eligible households. Loans become payable when the homes are sold or refinanced.

Brea Canyon Business Park UpdateThe Brea Canyon Business Park Project at 850 Brea Canyon Road consists of a four-story, 109-room hotel, a three-story medical office building, and a restaurant building on a 5.7-acre parcel previously operated as a recreational vehicle and boat storage facility. Off-site beautification and traffic improvements on Brea Canyon Road and Lycoming Street will also be implemented. A grading pre-construction meeting was held on Tuesday, January 18 to begin the first phase of work. Phase 1 will construct the three-story medical office building and off-site beautification/traffic improvements, both of which are scheduled to be completed by the end of the calendar year. The next phase, which includes the hotel and restaurant, will be constructed immediately afterwards. A detailed construction timeline is not yet available for this phase. The project will be inspected by a combination of City Consultants and City staff to ensure conformance with the plans and minimal impact to adjacent residents and businesses.

Reminder - Street Sweeping Resumes Bi-Weekly ScheduleStarting the week of January 31, 2022, street sweeping will resume its bi-weekly schedule and take place every other week throughout the city.

City Council Meeting Recap for January 18, 2022 Highlights of action taken: - Recognition of Hanna Bridal as January Business of the Month (watch BOM video)
- Certificates of Recognition:
- Chaparral Middle School Mock Trial Team for its third-place finish in the 2021 Los Angeles County Mock Trial competition
- Diamond Bar High School Mock Trial Team for being named the 2021 Los Angeles County Mock Trial Champions
- Approved the continued use of teleconferencing in accordance with Assembly Bill 361 for all City Council and Commission meetings
- Approved the establishment of fee rates for the newly installed electric vehicle charging stations located in the City Hall parking lot
- Approved resolutions for the dissolution of the Landscape Assessment District No. 39 and to establish Landscape Assessment District No. 39-2022
