New Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem NamedDuring its regular meeting of December 7, 2021, the Diamond Bar City Council conducted its annual reorganization at which time a new Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem were appointed for one-year terms.
Diamond Bar City Council Members selected Ruth Low to serve as Mayor and Andrew Chou to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. For more information about the City Council, visit www.diamondbarca.gov/citycouncil.

Congratulations to Business of the Month-F45 Training The City Council recognized F45 Training as Business of the Month for December 2021. This unique fitness training facility offers a mix of circuit and high-intensity interval training style workouts geared towards everyday movement. Located at 303 S Diamond Bar Blvd, Suite M, in the Diamond Bar Plaza next to Ace Hardware. F45 Training is open 7 days a week with morning and evening classes. Catch a Free Cab Ride to Shop LocallyNow through January 2, 2022, the City is offering residents the chance to skip the stress of driving in heavy traffic and searching for a parking spot, and instead catch a free cab ride to any of the city’s shopping centers. Winter Wonderland in Diamond BarPantera Park was a flurry of cheer with many attendees at this year’s Winter Snow Fest on Saturday, December 4. Children of all ages sled down four snow hills and frolicked in a snow play area. This year 100 tons of snow were used to turn the park into a winter wonderland! The day's activities featured a special visit from Flurry the Penguin, Santa, an elf on stilts, crafts for children, game and food booths, and local entertainment. This year, a Craft Fair area was added to provided attendees an opportunity to take care of some holiday shopping. Thank you to everyone who attended, see you next year!

New 8-Sport Multi-Sport ClassNow that in-person classes are back, the Parks and Recreation Department is expanding its offerings with a new 8-Sport Multi-Sport class by OC Sportball for children ages16 months to 10 years old. The program focuses on skill development in soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, hockey, golf and baseball. Free trial days before signing up!

Sanitizer Donation Received for Diamond Bar SeniorsOn December 7, the City received a generous donation of antibacterial wipes to distribute to local seniors. Approximately 2400, 100-count wipe containers will be given away during scheduled Senior club meetings and events, as well as City sponsored senior classes and activities that take place at the Diamond Bar Center and Heritage Park Community Center.

MCI Metro Improvement ProjectMCI Metro Access Transmission Services (Verizon sub-contractor), has completed placing new fiber optic cable along Grand Avenue, between Diamond Bar Boulevard and Summitridge Drive. Final asphalt/concrete restorations are scheduled to be complete by the week of December 20. The photo shows contractors boring underneath the sidewalk on Grand Avenue near Shotgun Lane

SCE Emergency Service Outage An emergency repair was performed by Southern California Edison for an electrical service outage on Carriso Road. Repairs started on Thursday, November 25 and continued into this week. All utility work on the public infrastructure is now complete, pending additional work on private property to restore full service. Final concrete restorations will be scheduled for a later date. The photo shows temporarily backfilled excavations that were necessary to access the electrical infrastructure.

SCE Utility Pole ReplacementCrews from City Light & Power, a subcontractor for Southern California Edison, removed and replaced a utility pole on Ahtena Drive. The work took place on Tuesday, December 7, and throughout the day, Public Works staff inspected traffic control operations to ensure the safety of the contractor’s crews and passing motorists. The photo shows contractors utilizing a crane to access the utility pole through a rear yard easement.
