Kinder Skills Students Learn About Law EnforcementThis week, the Kinder Skills classes welcomed a special guest speaker, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Aaron Scheller. As a community worker, Deputy Scheller discussed his duties and responsibilities and how the department serves the community. DB 4Youth Working TogetherAt their monthly meeting, members of the DB 4Youth group participated in team-building exercises and discussed upcoming community projects and volunteer opportunities. DB 4Youth, an organization for 8 to 12 graders, teaches leadership skills and provides volunteer opportunities for teens in Diamond Bar. To join, visit www.DiamondBarCA.gov/DB4Youth.

Senior Programs Patriotic Drive Through Event Taking RegistrationResidents 55 years of age and older are invited to join the free Patriotic Senior Resource Drive Through event on November 5. Participants receive a bag filled with hand sanitizer, masks, gloves, patriotic pins, flag and other items to enjoy at home. Event starts at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the parking lot of the Diamond Bar Center, located at 1600 Grand Avenue. Pre-registration is required at www.diamondbarca.gov/recregister using keyword "patriotic".

Closure of Northbound SR-57 South Diamond Bar Boulevard RampsThe California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced the long-term closure of the northbound SR-57 South Diamond Bar Boulevard on and off-ramps. Closure is scheduled to start Monday, November 1 at 12:01 a.m. through February 2022. This closure is part of a pavement replacement project to remove and replace concrete slabs in both directions of SR-57 which will enhance ride quality and maximize the service of the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes. Detours will be posted. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans quickmap.dot.ca.gov.

Diamond Bar Post Office Concrete ImprovementsOn Monday, November 1, work will start on the repair of displaced sidewalks, deteriorated parkway drains and two of the driveways surrounding the Post Office facility. The driveways located on Diamond Bar Boulevard and Montefino Avenue will remain closed during construction. The project is anticipated to be completed by November 5. All Post Office traffic will be directed through the Town Centre Village driveway. Directional signage will be posted to guide patrons.

October 26, 2021 Planning Commission MeetingBy a 5-0 vote, the Planning Commission recommended that the City Council adopt a Development Code amendment to update the City’s regulations for “family day care homes” to comply with State law. The item will be presented to the City Council at a meeting date to be determined.
