Kinder SkillsThe latest session of Kinder Skills, themed Community Workers!, is now underway. Children ages 3, 4 and 5 years of age will learn all about the workers in our communities that keep us safe, healthy, and thriving while also learning Kindergarten readiness skills. Classes are ongoing with every session offering new lessons.

Recreation Classes Are Back In PersonCookie decorating classes by Recreation class instructor and Diamond Bar resident Geri Keller will be taking place at the Diamond Bar Center in October. There are a variety of classes to choose from which encompass the basics of cookie decorating to holiday themed classes to prepare for upcoming holidays.

Youth BasketballRegistration is now open for the popular youth basketball league for children ages 4 to13. Young players learn the basics of the game of basketball in a safe and recreational environment. Early registration is highly encouraged as space is limited and filling fast.

Public Works Department Construction Project Updates

Grand Avenue / Golden Springs Drive Intersection Improvement Project Construction crews are busy installing the forms, which are used to shape the concrete pouring for the new retaining wall that will support the widened roadway when backfilled at the northeast section of the intersection and adjacent golf course parking lot.

|
SoCal Gas Maintenance ProjectThis week, Southern California Gas Company completed the repair of a residential gas service line on Palomino Drive, between Platina Drive and El Encino Drive. Final concrete restoration is scheduled to be completed at a later date. Photo shows the excavation within the parkway to access the residential gas mainline. .

Southern California Edison Emergency Service RepairEmergency repairs were completed on Tuesday, October 5 of a residential electrical service disruption at Robin Oaks Terrace. Final concrete restoration is scheduled for a later date. Photo shows the excavation in the concrete to access the failed electrical service that was replaced by contractors.

|
MCI Metro Improvement Project Work to place new underground fiber optic cable on Grand Avenue between Montefino Avenue and Diamond Bar Boulevard continues this week. Construction activity is anticipated to be completed by Friday, October 15. Photo shows contractors actively boring along Grand Avenue, without affecting the decorated amenities in the crosswalk and sidewalk, for the placement of new conduit underneath the roadway.

September 2021 Plan Check and Permit RevenuesThe City issued 167 building permits and received $97,324.12 in permit and plan check fees in September. Revenue was slightly lower compared to September 2020, and 21.3% lower compared September 2019. Overall revenues for the first quarter of the current fiscal year are thus far trending consistently with budget estimates.
