Census 2020 Non-Response
Follow-Up Visits Now Underway

The U.S. Census Bureau is following up in person with households that have not yet responded to the 2020 Census. Non-response follow-up is the Census Bureau's one last push to encourage everyone to be counted.

Participating in the national Census, which is conducted every ten years, is mandated by law and the information is directly tied to representation in the political system, distribution of billions of federal funds for health and education programs, and other quality of life matters such as where homes, roads and schools are built and public transit routes are established.

As of mid-August, the self-response rate in Diamond Bar was 76.7 percent. If your household has not completed the Census and you are visited by a Census taker, be prepared to take approximately 10-15 questions to answer the questionnaire in person.

Census takers work between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., including weekends, and can be identified by a valid government ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date on the badge. To confirm a census taker's identity, the public may contact the regional census center at (213) 314-6500 to speak with a Census Bureau representative.

Alternative, you can complete the Census online by visiting the Census 2020 website or by telephone by calling (844) 330-2020. It takes less than 10 minutes to answer nine simple questions about the age, gender, ethnicity, race of every member of the household as well as anyone else staying in the house on April 1, 2020, and whether you own or rent your home.

All Census results will be collected by September 30 so that they can be processed and released as statistics by December 31, as required by law.
