The County of Los Angeles will be taking part in a nationwide program called Great Plates Delivered that will benefit local restaurants and older adults alike during this COVID-19 pandemic.
At this time, this meal home delivery program will be available locally starting Monday, May 11, 2020 and until June 10, 2020, however, it may be extended should the health crisis persists. The program’s dual purpose is to:
- Provide nutritious meals to income-eligible adults 65 and older and high-risk adults 60-64 who are unable to access meals while staying at home because they are COVID-19 positive or have an underlying health condition, and are unable to prepare or obtain meals on their own.
- Support local restaurant owners and operators who have closed or are struggling to remain open due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Participating Individuals
Individuals who qualify and want to enroll in the program are asked to call the County’s Resource Line by dialing 2-1-1 and completing a brief eligibility screening with a trained Community Resource Advisor. The 2-1-1 phone line is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Once enrolled, individuals will have access to up to three free home-delivered meals per day, and participating restaurants will be reimbursed up to $16 for breakfast, $17 for lunch, and $28 for dinner.
Participating Restaurants
Local restaurants interested in being approved as a meal provider under this program must not be participating in another state or federal meal service program, and must be able to source their ingredients locally, and meet volume, nutritional standards and cultural needs.
Diamond Bar restaurants interested in being considered are encouraged to fill out an online Interest Form on the State’s program website. The State will then forward the application to the County who will contact the restaurants to discuss next steps.
