March 2021
Beautiful Diamond Bar
Set against a scenic mountain backdrop, I am continuously reminded how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful City with a family-friendly atmosphere filled with well-maintained parks, trails and roads. One of the key initiatives in the City’s Strategic Plan is to ‘…improve property maintenance and encourage code compliance.” This initiative is multi-faceted and requires all the collective efforts of our residents, businesses and property owners to keep Diamond Bar Beautiful.
The City and partnering agencies are committed to doing our part in keeping our city an attractive place to live, work and play. A few efforts that I have been advocating for and are currently underway include the City engaging with Caltrans to clean State-owned park and ride lots, and the on and off ramp areas in the City. Diamond Bar is also working with the City of Industry to finish signage and striping at the Grand Avenue Bridge. Lastly, after a coordinated meeting between staff from Representative Young Kim’s office and the City, Representative Kim’s office was able to facilitate additional maintenance and landscape improvement work at the Diamond Bar Post Office.
With spring approaching, this is the perfect opportunity for residents and businesses to get a head start on spring cleaning. The City has adopted property maintenance standards that require yards to be landscaped, well-groomed and weed free, the right of way between one’s property and the street to be maintained, in addition to trash cans stored out of sight. Residents can also take advantage of bulky item pick-up services offered by Waste Management by calling 800-266-7551 (residential) and Valley Vista Services by calling 800-442-6454 (multi-family/commercial). Collectively, we can take steps to make the City even more beautiful for generations to come.
Another popular event to help keep Diamond Bar Beautiful is the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Round-up which will take place on Saturday, March 13 from 9am-3pm in the City. Located at the 1300 block of Bridge Gate Drive in the Gateway Corporate Center, this event allows residents a safe and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. Items that may be collected include: motor oil, antifreeze, paint, pesticides, household and car batteries, old computers or television sets sharps or used needles, and other selected items that require proper disposing. Please note, COVID-19 safety precautions will be in place. For additional information please visit www.888cleanla.com or call 888-CLEAN-LA.
