[ARCHIVED] Fair Committee Recruiting Volunteers

DB Day at the Fair

Planning for this year’s Diamond Bar Day at the Fair is now underway, and the Los Angeles County Fair Association is currently seeking residents who may be interested in serving on a volunteer committee to help plan this year’s event.

The Committee, which was formed last year, plays a significant role in planning, advertising and executing various aspects of Diamond Bar Day. Responsibilities include:

working in partnership with Fairplex staff to generate leads for potential donors and raise funds to help offset school bus transportation costs for Diamond Bar students to participate in the FairKids Field Trip Program;

promoting the FairKids program to school districts and schools by distributing information and making presentations;

raising public awareness and working with news media outlets to help promote the Community Hero Award program and helping with the nomination and selection of awardees; and

helping with the coordination of a parade by planning entertainment and enlisting the participation of community-based groups.

Diamond Bar Day at the Fair is an annual event led by the Los Angeles County Fair Association as part of its annual Community Days program. It is aimed at honoring participating government entities with a host of festivities, including recognition of volunteers, discounted fair admission for residents, and a parade featuring local community groups, sports teams and first responders.

Diamond Bar Day at the Fair takes place every year in September. For more information or to join the committee, contact Committee Chair Debbie Avila-Mott at 909.860.1063 or Fairplex Community Relations Coordinator Shanell Fuquay at 909.865.4075 or fuquay@fairplex.com.
