[ARCHIVED] Free Adaptive Equipment

Senior Using Walker While Doing Laundry

There is no place like home, which is why the Service Center for Independent Life (SCIL) advocates assistive technology as a way of enhancing the ability of individuals to carry out everyday activities with greater independence.

Assistive technology includes a wide range of durable medical equipment such as commodes or shower chairs, as well as home safety modifications that include hand rails, grab bars, and wheelchair ramps.

For a limited time and while resources are available, Diamond Bar residents age 55 or older can contact SCIL to request help with obtaining free or low cost assistive technology. Staff is also available to provide a free home assessment to determine what safety modifications are needed and, if needed, install the items.

Call the Service Center for Independent Life at 909.621.6722 during its business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
