City Commission Appointment Opportunities

Applications are currently being accepted to fill one seat on each of the City’s three commissions – Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Traffic and Transportation. 

Commissions act in an advisory capacity to the City Council. A brief description of duties is as follows:

Parks & Recreation Commission

The five-member Parks and Recreation Commission is responsible for advising the City Council in all matters pertaining to the planning, programming and operation of recreation activities and facilities and the development of recreation areas, facilities, programs and improved services.

Parks and Recreation Commission meetings are held bi-monthly on the 4th Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November, and Commissioners receive a $45 stipend per commission meeting attended.

Planning Commission

The five-member Planning Commission’s general purpose is to review proposed developments that may have an impact on the community’s growth and environment. 

Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month and commissioners receive a $65 stipend for each commission meeting attended.

Traffic & Transportation Commission

The purpose of the Traffic and Transportation Commission is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in the review and development of systems, facilities, plans, policies and programs concerning private and public transportation within the City and affecting the City.

Traffic & Transportation Commission meetings are held bi-monthly on the 2nd Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November and commissioners receive a $45 stipend for each commission meeting attended.

Selected commissioners will be appointed to complete the remaining term with a termination date of January 2024.

Interested candidates must submit applications online at www.diamondbarca.gov/jobs by the deadline of 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2023. Applications will be forwarded to the appointing Council Member and appointments will be ratified by the City Council at a subsequent Council Meeting.
