Community Workshop Planned for Diamond Bar Town Center Specific Plan

In 2019, the City Council adopted the Diamond Bar General Plan 2040. The process included a considerable amount of community engagement in which residents expressed a desire to establish a thriving downtown – similar to many neighboring communities that feature vibrant, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use districts. In response, the City has begun the process of planning the creation of an inviting Town Center, envisioned to feature pedestrian-only plazas and paseos lined with shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, community gathering spaces and urban living opportunities.

Now, the City has launched the Diamond Bar Town Center Specific Plan, which will refine the overall vision, policies, objectives and land use regulations for the Town Center Mixed-use Focus Area – a 45-acre commercial district located along both sides of Diamond Bar Boulevard, generally bounded on the south by Golden Springs Drive, on the north by the SR-60 Freeway, and intersected by Gentle Springs Lane and Palomino Drive. The Specific Plan will also create development standards, design guidelines, infrastructure improvements, and implementation and financing strategies for the Plan area.

To kick off the Specific Plan process, the City is holding a community workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at the Diamond Bar Center, 1600 Grand Avenue.
