[ARCHIVED] Renew or Apply for a Business License Online

Renew or Apply for a Business License Online

It is now possible to renew or apply for a business license without having to come into City Hall, and the process is easy and convenient.

Last month, the City launched an online forms portal for everything business license-related, including starting a new business, or changing its name, ownership, or location.

As a reminder, a general annual business license is required of everyone running business operations within city limits, even if they do not have a physical presence. This includes contractors, street vendors, internet or home-based businesses, and nonprofits.

Because some business operations require additional permits or industry-specific licenses, each form includes a simple “yes or no” questionnaire that informs applicants if they need additional approvals and provides them a link to the required form(s). For instance, dental offices must complete a one-time compliance report for dental discharges, and certain industrial facilities must secure a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit.

The business license online forms portal is available at Questions related to this portal or business license requirements may be directed to the City’s Planning Division at or (909) 839-7030.
