If you change your vehicle oil at home, here is an opportunity to properly dispose of any used oil filters you may have stored in your shed or garage.
On Saturday, November 6, the City is hosting a Used Oil Filter Exchange and Recycling event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Autozone located at 303 S. Diamond Bar Boulevard.
Residents who bring a used filter to the event will get a voucher for a free new oil filter, and a used oil recycling kit that consists of an oil drain container, funnel and other items. Only one free oil filter voucher and one oil recycling kit will be issued per household while supplies last. All COVID-19 safety protocols in effect on the day of the event will be observed.
Used oil filters are considered hazardous waste but they contain reusable steel as well as residual motor oil which means they should not be thrown out in the regular trash. Instead, they should be recycled through a certified used oil collection centers that accepts oil filters, or a household hazardous waste collection event or service where they can be processed for proper recycling.
This event is funded by a grant from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
Questions regarding this event may be directed to the City’s Environmental Services Division at firstname.lastname@example.org or (909) 839-7015.
