Los Angeles County Public Health Department has reinstated its indoor mask mandate effective July 17, 2021 in response to a rise in transmission rates of COVID-19, particularly the delta variant. The mandate, which is detailed in the modified Health Officer Order, requires everyone* age 2 and older – regardless of vaccination status –to wear a mask in all indoor settings. This Order applies to the entire county with the exception of Long Beach and Pasadena, both of which have their own health departments.

According to the County Health Department, current authorized vaccines remain the best form of protection from getting seriously ill from, or more easily spreading, the virus. Vaccinations remain available free of cost to everyone age 12 and older. More information on where to obtain the vaccine, including locations that do not require appointments or offer a drive-through options, is available by visiting http://www.vaccinatelacounty.com.

Individuals without internet access or who need help with booking a vaccine appointment can call (833) 540-0473 between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. any day of the week.

*Individuals with a medical condition or disability that prevents mask wearing are exempted from this mask order. Learn more.
