The City now has a Homelessness Response Plan. Developed with input from homeless service providers and other partners at the local level, the Plan is aimed at guiding, informing and supporting the City’s and community’s efforts to assist individuals and families in Diamond Bar who are homeless or experiencing instability in their housing situation.
Recognizing that addressing homelessness requires a collaborative effort, the Plan defines four critical areas, or high-level goals, that involve actions that can be taken by the City, housing developers, property owners, and service providers. These goals are:
■ Increase community awareness of homelessness, housing instability, and available response resources.
■ Advance property owner outreach and engagement strategies to encourage the maintenance and attainment of available, affordable units for people experiencing, or at-risk of homelessness.
■ Promote affordable housing development and preservation within Diamond Bar.
■ Participate in ongoing regional and countywide strategies to foster a robust regional service delivery system to prevent and address homelessness.
The Plan was adopted by the Diamond Bar City Council in February 2021. It is available for viewing online at https://www.diamondbarca.gov/homelessness.
