September 11, 2020) Coming this October, the City will be hosting two month-long, frightfully fun contests to get everyone in the Halloween spirit!

Take part in one or both, and either go solo or make it a family affair but be sure to capture the end result on your camera and submit it to the City for a chance to win a Target gift card!

Costume Contest

No one is left out of this fun contest that involves dressing up yourself, your children, and your pets in their Halloween finest. Costumes can be store-bought or homemade, cute, scary or funny, and either individual or coordinated.

The five contest categories are Best Kid’s costume (12 years or younger), Best Teen’s costume (13 to 17 years of age), Best Adult’s costume (18 years or older), Best Family/Group costume (two or more participants), and Best Pet’s costume (all animals welcomed).

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Pick a pumpkin and the decorating tools, supplies or materials of your choice to join in on this seasonal favorite activity! Carving is optional which makes it a fun and safe activity for family members of all ages. Examples of items you can use to decorate your pumpkin are carving tools, chalk paint and stencils, paint, glue and cutouts, and stickers.

The three contest categories are Best Kid’s pumpkin (12 years or younger), Best Teen’s pumpkin (13 to 17 years of age), Best Adult’s pumpkin (18 years or older).

Both contests are open to only Diamond Bar residents, and only one entry per participant is allowed.

Photo entries for both the Costume Contest and the Pumpkin Decorating Contest will be accepted by email to recreation@diamondbarca.gov between October 1 and November 1 and must be accompanied by a completed entry form, which is available for download on the City website at www.diamondbarca.gov/specialevents.

One winner will be selected in each category, and the winners will each receive a $25 Target gift card.
