City Awards Business Grants

highlight - Applications and Grants

As part of its new Business Recovery Program, the City will be awarding a combined $320,000 in grant funding to dozens of small, locally-owned businesses to help them in their recovery efforts during this COVID-19 public health crisis.

The City announced the availability of 64 one-time $5,000 business recovery grants mid-June after the program was approved by the Diamond Bar City Council during its regular meeting of June 2, 2020, and qualifying businesses were encouraged to apply during a two-day application period.

More than 200 applications where submitted, of which 187 met the qualifying criteria that included having a Diamond Bar storefront, being independently-owned and operated for at least a year, having a valid City business license, and having fewer than 25 employees.

Each of the 187 qualifying applications was randomly assigned a number, and those with numbers 1-64 were selected for the grant with the remaining 123 placed on an eligibility list should additional funding become available.

The Business Recovery Grants, which are primarily funded by the federal CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act) are intended to help business owners meet short-term needs such as paying rent or utilities, or purchasing items to reinforce proper distancing and disinfecting measures such as personal protective equipment, plexi-glass guards, and signage.

The first round of grant recipients runs the gamut from hairdressers, acupuncturists and optometrists to auto repair shops, shipping stores, and restaurants. Listed by alphabetical order, they are:
