If you are at least 18 years of age and interested in learning the essential skills to assist family members and neighbors immediately following an emergency or disaster, you may want to take advantage of the free CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training the Los Angeles County Fire Department is offering this month.
Approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, CERT training includes both lecture hands-on exercises in basic first aid, fire safety, disaster medical operations including basic triage, and light search and rescue.
The 21-hour training takes place over three consecutive Saturdays – September 21 and 28 and October 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the South Coast AQMD, located at 21865 Copley Drive. Participants who complete the training are awarded a certificate.
Spaces are limited and advance registration is required. For more information or to register, visit the County of Los Angeles Fire Department website.
