There are still spaces available for the upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course that will taught by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel over the course of three consecutive Saturdays: September 29, and October 6 and 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, CERT trainings prepare participants to respond to a variety of emergency situations. They consists of 20 to 24 hours of classroom lessons and hands-on instruction in areas that include fire suppression, light search and rescue, basic first aid, medical triage, and disaster psychology. A certificate of completion is awarded to participants at the end of the course.
Individuals must be at least 18 years old to participate. Advance registration is required no later than Wednesday, September 26 and can be made online. Questions may be directed to Community Services Liaison Leticia Pacillas by email.
