[ARCHIVED] Free Gardening, Composting Workshops

If you are considering composting at home, substituting your turf for native drought-tolerant landscaping, or if you are looking for ways to manage insect pests, you may want to take advantage of the free Smart Gardening workshops the City is hosting on July 7 and 21, and August 11.

The workshops on July 7 and 21 are considered advanced and cover organic gardening and drought-tolerant landscaping, as well and the control of insect pests without relying solely on pesticides. The workshop on July 22 is recommended for beginners and focus on the basics of backyard composting, worm composting, water-wise gardening, and grasscycling. 

All three workshops take place at the Diamond Bar Center from 1–2:30 p.m., and are open to Los Angeles County residents.

Following each workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a backyard or worm compost bins at a discounted price of $40 and $65, respectively.
