The City is implementing a new organics program for Diamond Bar restaurants in order to divert food waste from the landfills and meet State mandates.
Organic recycling helps to divert food waste which would normally end up in the landfills. Restaurants can divert organic food waste which includes: meat, bones, dairy, coffee grounds & filters, tea leaves & bags, egg shells, vegetables, fruit and green waste.
With the use of a City grant, participating restaurants receive a dedicated indoor recycling bin to allow for the source separation of organic waste during the food prepping stages. Using 96 gallon carts, the City’s commercial waste hauler Valley Vista Services will provide collection services, for a fee, at least once per week. The organic food waste is taken for processing to an anaerobic digester plant in Orange.
