Water Awareness Month

Summer is just around the corner, and it will bring a rise in temperatures as well as water needs.With May locally proclaimed as Water Awareness Month, it is a good time to think about ways we can be thrifty and thoughtful with our water use. Simple and effective water-saving measures include:

  • Reducing shower times;
  • Fixing leaks in faucets and faucets;
  • Installing water-saving shower heads or flow restrictors;
  • Running only full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher;
  • Turning off the water while brushing your teeth, washing your hair, or shaving;
  • Reporting water leaks to WVWD by calling 909.348.8228, or emailing [email protected]; and
  • Using buckets to clean your fruits and vegetables or while waiting for your shower water to run hot and using the water collected to water your plants and gardens, or clean your front porch or backyard patio.
