Jennifer "Fred" Mahlke was appointed to the City Council on January 28, 2020 to fulfill the term of a vacated seat set to expire in December 2020.
Prior to her appointment to the Diamond Bar City Council, Ms. Mahlke served on the Diamond Bar Planning Commission since 2015, and previous to that served four years on the Diamond Bar Traffic and Transportation Commission.
Ms. Mahlke holds a master’s degree in speech communication from California State University, Fullerton, and has been teaching college-level communication courses since 1997. Since 2010, she has been an adjunct communication professor at Cal Poly, Pomona.
Throughout her teaching career, Ms. Mahlke has received several honors, including being nominated Advisor of the Year in 2019, being named Adjunct of the Year (Mt. SAC Communication Department) in 2016, and receiving a nomination for the George P. Hart Award for Outstanding Faculty Leadership in 2014.
Ms. Mahlke and her husband moved to Diamond Bar in 1999. Together they raised their two children and were actively involved and supportive of their educational and extracurricular endeavors. Ms. Mahlke served as PTO President at Golden Springs Elementary School for several years, and she and her husband were team parents for 15 years in various local sports.
