Chia Yu Teng is serving his first term on the Diamond Bar City Council after being elected by voters in District 4 during the November 8, 2022 General Municipal Election.
Teng has a doctoral degree in chemistry from Cornell University as well as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami. He has practiced medicine for more than 30 years, and has a clinic in neighboring City of Industry. In 2004, Teng co-founded Central Health Plan of California, a Diamond Bar-based healthcare organization serving older adults throughout Southern California.
For the past 13 years, Teng and his wife, Theresa, have made Diamond Bar their home where they have raised their two children and volunteered in the community. Their volunteer priorities include hosting free health fairs and fundraising for local high schools.
Teng's priorities on the City Council include economic development, particularly supporting small businesses, and enhancing public safety services.
