Council Member Andrew Chou
Andrew Chou was elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in November 2018. Previously, he served as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner in 2018.
Mr. Chou was born in Taiwan and raised in the neighboring town of Hacienda Heights. In 2000, he graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Social Science. Following graduation, Mr. Chou moved to San Francisco and started his career as a financial planner with a large independent wealth management firm. After relocating back to Los Angeles, Andrew enjoyed a successful career with two national firms, where he served as the advisor to an exclusive group of families and business owners. In 2015, he made the decision to start his own practice and founded NexGen Wealth Management, a full service financial planning firm based in Diamond Bar.
Currently, Mr. Chou serves as the City Council’s delegate to the Joint Powers Insurance Authority and League of California Cities – L.A. County Division, and as alternate delegate to the California Contract Cities Association, Four-Corners Transportation Policy Group, Southern California Association of Governments, and Wildlife Corridor Conservation Authority.
Additionally, Mr. Chou is a delegate to the City’s standing committees on Lighting and Landscape Assessment District and Legislative matters. He also serves as the Council liaison to the Pomona Unified School District.
Outside of work, Mr. Chou is heavily involved with his alma mater, University of California, Irvine. He was the founder, and is currently the President of UCI Los Angeles Alumni Chapter. He also serves on the UCI Alumni Association Scholarship Committee, which awards scholarship each year to deserving students. Previously, Mr. Chou served two terms as a Board member of the UCI Alumni Association. Additionally, Mr. Chou is also an instructor in the UC Irvine Department of Continued Education where he teaches several courses in the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER curriculum.
Mr. Chou and his wife Jennifer, along with their two young children reside in Diamond Bar, and he currently serves as a Board Member of the local Kiwanis Club.
