Going Green in Diamond Bar

The City of Diamond Bar offers a number of specialized recycling programs in addition to its residential trash/recycling program. You can learn how to properly dispose of the following items:

From selecting plants and flowers that add color and interest to gardens without requiring a lot of water or maintenance to turning yard waste and food scraps into rich soil amendment, both beginning and experienced gardeners will benefit from participating in on of the free gardening and composting workshops. At the conclusion of the workshops, participants will have the option of purchasing a composting bin or a worm bin, including the worms at a discounted fee.

Free Recycling Bins for Businesses

For a limited time and while supplies last, the City is providing free bins to Diamond Bar Home Base Businesses, Schools, and Service Organizations who are looking to improve recycling habits among employees and visitors. To be eligible for recycling bins, businesses must submit an application including a recycling plan.

Bins are available in three capacities — 7, 23 and 50-gallon. Access the application for a free bin (PDF).

Incentives for Going Green

A partnership between So Cal Edison and The Gas Company, this is a one-stop online shop for homeowners interested in taking advantage of up to $4,500 in available rebates and incentives to complete various energy-saving upgrades to their homes.

Administered by the California Public Utilities Commission, “Energy Upgrade California,” connects homeowners to available financing options, and pre-approved contractors to perform work. Eligible upgrades include:

  • Air and duct sealing
  • Combustion safety testing
  • Energy-efficient windows
  • HVAC upgrades
  • Insulation
  • Low flow control devices
  • Tankless water heaters
