Youth Sports
The City provides a variety of athletic opportunities for the youth of Diamond Bar. These athletic programs are designed to build self-esteem and teach the basic fundamentals of the sport in a safe and positive environment. Using the model of Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM), children have the opportunity to make friends, develop sportsmanship, learn how to compete and cooperate, cultivate leadership skills, be physically fit, and develop a positive self-concept in an enjoyable recreation environment.
Code of Ethics
To support this high level of positive sportsmanship, the Diamond Bar City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission has approved a City-wide Parent’s Code of Ethics which is signed by all parents prior to children participating in the program. This form serves as a reminder that the programs are built around the needs and desires of a developing child.
Indoor Soccer
Designed for children ages 3 to 8, the program offers an instructional and recreational opportunity for boys and girls in a fun atmosphere. Practices are held 30 minutes prior to each game on Saturdays, beginning in April and continuing through May, at Mount Calvary Lutheran School, 23300 Golden Springs Drive, Diamond Bar.
Register online using Activity Code 1521 for ages 3 and 4, Activity Code 1522 for ages 5 and 6, or Activity Code 1523 for ages 7 and 8.
Basketball
This indoor co-ed basketball program is designed to teach and enhance basketball knowledge and skills in a recreational and fun atmosphere for children ages 4-13. Games are played on Saturdays. Participants age 6 and older will participate in a Skills Day. Practices and games begin in January and continue through March.
Register online using Activity Code 1501 for ages 4 and 5, Activity Code 1502 for ages 6 and 7, Activity Code 1503 for ages 8 and 9, Activity Code 1504 for ages 10 and 11, or Activity Code 1525 for ages 12 and 13.
Volunteer Coaches
Volunteer coaches are essential to the City’s youth sports program. If you can spare a few hours a month and share the City’s enthusiasm for creating opportunities where youth can learn and practice sports in a fun, positive and friendly learning environment, consider becoming a volunteer coach. Must be at least 18 years of age (or 16 with parent permission). Experience is helpful but not required. To be considered for a coaching position with the City's youth sports program, complete the application below and return it by email to Recreation Specialist Daniel Garcia at dgarcia@diamondbarca.gov.
