All individuals and businesses doing work within city limits, whether or not they have a physical structure in the city, are required to have a business license. This includes contractors, internet and home-based businesses. Business license holders must display their license in public view at all times.
Non-profits and certain businesses are exempt from paying fees under the Constitution of the United States or under the Constitution or laws of the State of California but must still register with the City. Licenses may be applied for in-person at City Hall during regular business hours.
Annual license renewals, including payment, may be completed online. Note, new business license requests must submit a completed application form along with payment by mail or in person, and cannot be completed online.
This notice provides access information and resources to building license and commercial building permit applicants. Versions in Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese or Korean are available online.
