The Building and Safety Division is responsible for the protection of public health and safety through the enforcement of the Building Code and other related codes. This division provides for Building and Safety plan check, permit issuance, and inspection services.
An updated version of the code went into effect January 1, 2008 and is aimed at ensuring all new construction meets minimum levels of energy efficiency. The requirements include the implementation of environment-friendly technologies and methods, such as water-saving plumbing fixtures, and energy-efficient windows, lighting, heating, and air conditioning.
