Town Center Development

Town Center TAP Report Cover ImageIn December 2019, the City Council adopted a comprehensive update to its General Plan, establishing a new vision for a pedestrian-oriented "Town Center," that provided housing opportunities, food-oriented retail, restaurants, and entertainment.

The Town Center plan designates 45-acre commercial area along Diamond Bar's main thoroughfare—Diamond Bar Boulevard between Golden Springs Drive and the SR-60 overpass—as the Town Center Mixed Use Focus Area.

In April 2021, the City enlisted the assistance of the Urban Land Institute-Los Angeles (ULI-LA) to commence a technical assistance panel (TAP) to gain a better understanding of the market possibilities, implementation strategies, and design frameworks to consider as it plans the Diamond Bar Town Center. The vision presented included the challenges and benefits to the community of a project of this scope and cost.
