WHAT: As part of the Grand Avenue Beautification Project, enhancements to the existing crosswalks at the intersection of Grand Ave./Diamond Bar Blvd. and Grand Ave./Longview Dr. will be constructed using colored concrete and decorative pavers. The labor-intensive nature of this work and the types of materials being used will require extended construction hours and continuous traffic lane closures.
WHEN: Due to lower weekend traffic volumes this work is scheduled to take place during two separate weekends in November 2015. Closures at both intersections will begin on Friday, November 6 at 4:00pm through Monday, November 9 at 6:00am and Friday, November 13 at 4:00pm through Monday, November 16 at 6:00am.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Lanes through these two intersections will be reduced to at least one through lane and one turn lane in each direction at all times during the closure periods. Details of the closures can be found on the reverse side of this notice. Major traffic delays are anticipated. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes outside of Diamond Bar in order to avoid extensive congestion.
Please direct any questions or concerns to the Diamond Bar Public Works Department at 909.839.7040 or PublicWorks@DiamondBarCA.gov.
Please note that construction operations are subject to change without notice due to unforeseen circumstances. The City of Diamond Bar and its contractor, All American Asphalt, will proactively plan to minimize any construction delays related to unexpected situations. Construction is always subject to weather conditions.
As a result of a federal grant secured by the City of Diamond Bar through the Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act - a Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), Grand Avenue will receive nearly $2 million worth of beautification work later this year. The federal grant will enable improvements to the intersections at Diamond Bar Bouelvard and Longivew Drive, both of which are considered primary gateways into the city. The funds will provide for a combination of lanscaping, paving, lighting and public furnishing improvements.
