Incorporated in 1989, the City of Diamond Bar is a general law city that operates within the parameters and guidelines of California municipal law.
As a general law city, Diamond Bar utilizes the city council/city manager form of government to administrate city operations. The five-member council is elected at large by the residents, and a mayor is selected annually by the council to serve a one-year term.
Under this type of administration, the elected council provides leadership and makes policy, while the city manager directs city departments in carrying out that policy.
The salary for council members is as outlined and regulated by State law.
City Council Compensation
Each council member receives a salary of $746 per month ($8,952 annually)

- Automobile Allowance of $300 per month
- Cell Phone Allowance of $43.25 per month
The City Councilmembers and the City Treasurer are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk's office. Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by these elected officers may be obtained by visiting the offices of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) or the City Clerk.
